उस मेले के पास से उस शोरगुल के पास से एक लड़की जा रही है उसके हाथो मे एक बास का मोटा और लम्बा सा डंडा है। उसका एक पाव लंगडा रहा है। और वह उस डंडे के सहारे चल रही है।अरु ने उसे देखा। उसे ऐसा लग रहा है जैसे आसमान से कोई परी लंगडाते हुए उसकी ओर आ रही है। अरु कि नजरें उसके पैर पर थी उसने नजरों को ऊपर उठाया तो जाना कि उस परी के बाल उसकी कमर के ऊपरी भाग तक आ रहे है।उसके खुले हुए बाल हवा के साथ कोई खेल, खेल रहे है। उसके बालो का रंग सोने कि तरह दिखाई दे रहा है, जो धूप मे और भी ज्यादा चमक रहें है। अरु ने उसी वक्त भगवान से मन हि मन कहा यदि ये लंगड़ी लड़की से मेरी शादी हो जाए तो भी कुछ गलत नहीं होगा। पर अभी तक अरु ने उसका चेहरा नहीं देखा है, चेहरा देखने के लिए अरु ने अपनी निगाहों को और ऊपर उठाया पर उसका चेहरा कुछ इस तरह से है कि कुछ हिस्सा जो अरु कि ओर का है वो बालो से ढका हुआ है और सर नीचे कि ओर झुका हुआ है । अब उसे देखने को अरु का मन बेचैन हो गया है। अरु के आस पास क्या हो रहा है सब भूल कर लगातार उस परी कि ओर देख रहा है वो धीरे-धीरे आगे वाले मोड़ तक चलि गई है। जहां से वो पूरी तरह दूसरी ओर मुड़ रही है ,इससे पहले उसने एक पल के लिए अरु कि ओर देखा, उसकी वो कातिल निगाहे बस कुछ छ्न के लिए अरु कि नजरों से मिली फिर कुछ देर तक अरु को कुछ होस हि नहीं रहा और वो वहाँ से धीरे-धीरे चली गई। अरु ने सोचा ओहो ये क्या हुआ ,मैं तो उसकी आँखो मे हि खो गया। मैंने तो उसका चेहरा भी नहीं देखा ।अब क्या होगा पहचानुन्गा कैसे ,फिर सोचा लंगड़ी लड़की को पहचानने मे क्या परेसानी । श्याम तक फिर वहीं औरतों कि घिसी पिटी बातें उसने ये किया, उसने वो किया ,वो उसके घर मे घुस गई, उसने उसी के पति को मारा साड़ी का फाल नहीं बना और भी बहुत कुछ।धीरे-धीर श्याम हो गई दीदी भी आ गई अरु भी दीदी के आते हि वहाँ से उनके साथ आ गया, दीदी ने खाना पकाना शुरू कर दिया और पूछा कि तुम्हारा सफर कैसा था। अरु ने कहा सफर तो बहुत अच्छा रहा । पर फोन कौन सी लड़की उठाती है आप से उसने मेरी बात हि नहीं कराई । अरु को उसके बारे मे जानने कि इच्छा हो रही है इसलिए अरु ने ऐसा पूछा , जवाब भी मिला वो पीछे घर कि लड़की है उसका नाम सारा है। उसका नाम भी पता हो गया । पर आड़ू ने उसे अभी तक देखा नहीं है। पर देखने कि इच्छा हो रही है आखिर वो कैसी दिखती है ।वो तो मुझे जानती है ना उसने तो मिलने आना था वो क्यूँ नहीं आयी ।इस तरह अरु तीन बातें एक साथ सोच रहा है। खाना खा रहा है। दीदी से घर परिवार कि बातें भी कर रहा है। साथ हि साथ उस लड़की के बारे मे सोच रहा है जिसने फोन पर बात कि थी और उस लंगड़ी लड़की के बारे मे भी। दोनों को देखने कि चाहत अरु के मन मे है।ये सब सोचते हुए वो सो गया ।
